Polestar 2 Model Year 2024

Start the new year off with a bang—the Polestar 2 model year 2024. Make this monumental change to upgrade your lifestyle and take advantage of all it has to offer.

The switch to RWD is a major alteration that improves the driving experience and optimises the performance of the electric motor.

For those in search of a more efficient driving experience, Polestar will introduce major upgrades to our electric performance fastback, Polestar 2. Recharge faster and drive farther with new batteries. In addition, you'll enjoy the exhilaration of power and performance thanks to the next generation of electric motors and rear-wheel drive (RWD) capabilities on single-motor models - a first for Polestar.

“Changing from front- to rear-wheel drive in the single-motor variants, and re-calibrating the torque ratio in the dual-motor variant for an increased rear-wheel drive feel, elevates the Polestar 2 driving experience to a whole new level,” says Joakim Rydholm, Head of Chassis Development at Polestar.

“The upgraded Polestar 2 is an even more playful and agile car, retaining its compactness and complete sense of control, while at the same time becoming more mature with added comfort.”

Sustainability remains a key priority for Polestar 2. Version with 82 kWh batteries boast an impressive 1.1-ton reduction in carbon emissions, down to 5.9 tonnes per car, thanks to upgraded cell chemistry. Keep an eye out for LCA results planned for late 2023.

Rounding off the list of improvements on the Polestar 2 is the new SmartZone which brings a visual aspect to this already high-tech vehicle. The SmartZone helps to keep occupants safe by hosting several active safety elements such as the front facing camera and mid-range radar. To complete the sporty feel of this car, the 20-inch forged alloy wheels found in the Performance Pack have been redesigned to match those featured on Polestar 3.

The Swedish EV maker Polestar ($PSNY) is bringing a notable update to the electric performance fastback, Polestar 2, for its 2024 model year. The premium compact EV features a reinvigorated front end following the design language debuted by Polestar 3 and improved performance with powerful new electric motors, updated batteries, sustainability enhancements, plus rear-wheel drive, a first for Polestar models.

  • New motors, refined ride and rear-wheel drive for single-motor versions
  • Quicker charging and longer range – now up to 635 km WLTP
  • Sustainability improvements reduce carbon impact by 1.1 tonnes
  • SmartZone debuts following introduction on Polestar 3
  • Driver Awareness features and wireless phone charger added to list of standard equipment

“Typically in the car industry, a facelift introduces superficial visual changes that often destroy the original intention of the car’s design theme. With the new model year Polestar 2, we rather went below the surface and upgraded substantial tech and mechanical components of the electric drivetrain. This is the best Polestar 2 yet, and with the updated front design with the new SmartZone, the best looking one, too,” says Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath.

Polestar is in their second year of partnership with the Weisse Arena Group, who are in charge of Laax ski resort located in the Swiss Alps. Recently we managed to catch up with Reto Fry, their Sustainability Officer, to discuss their environmental objectives and find out how they are protecting their slopes from the effects of climate change.
