Lucid is moving closer to putting its second vehicle, the all-electric Gravity SUV, into production. The automaker released images of the luxury offering and shared news that it's now in a new stage of development with tests in the US being conducted.

The images showcase Lucid Gravity with a mostly dark gray matte wrap that is slightly camouflaged, along with social media logos. An open road surrounded by grassy plains offers onlookers the opportunity to follow the automaker.

Lucid has clearly framed these shots to hide inner details, such as the back shot which is pulled out. The vehicle's top bears a sensor that seems unfinished, implying future self-driven capabilities. If you look carefully at the front picture (above), there appears to be a driver wearing a helmet behind what looks like a curved panoramic windshield.

The Lucid Gravity was unveiled last year, providing a peek into its expansive interior - boasting three rows of reclining seating with choices between five, six, or seven navigators. For its next debut, the automaker has teased an upgraded “Glass Cockpit” with high-def screens and the groundbreaking Lucid UX software — we just have to wait for it.

Gravity's details, such as range, performance and pricing, are still undisclosed. It is likely that bookings will open sometime in 2020.

Lucid has been suggesting building an SUV, called “Project Gravity”, since 2019 and later declared that it would construct the vehicle during 2020. Even prior to completing the AMP-1 factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, the company had been contemplating producing the motor car. At that stage, production of its first car, the Lucid Air sedan, hadn't started yet.

By the time Lucid went public in 2021, their strategy was to make Gravity available by 2023. Unfortunately, this timeline shifted to 2024 due to "extraordinary supply chain and logistics challenges" surrounding the production of Air vehicles. Thankfully, Lucid customers are still able to get their hands on the first models soon after.

Lucid has regained momentum with its Gravity and Air sedan models. It has announced deliveries of the 'Stealth Appearance' Air Grand Touring, along with a $7,500 credit to offset any federal tax incentive changes. This surge in production has led to a 290 percent year-over-year increase in overall deliveries, which is a major improvement from the lackluster numbers before.
