Polestar Partners with Mobileye For Autonomous Tech

Polestar and Mobileye have announced a partnership to bring autonomous technology to Polestar 4, which may be implemented in other vehicles. This will be achieved by using the Mobileye Chauffeur™ AV platform, manufactured and integrated by ECARX.

Polestar 4 will be equipped with Mobileye Chauffeur™ technology platform, a comprehensive solution for autonomous driving. This cutting-edge platform will enable the vehicle to drive itself safely and efficiently.

Polestar seeks to meet its mission of providing world-class design, sustainability and innovation with its cars. The upcoming collaboration with Mobileye Chauffeur will finally afford customers the convenience of on-demand rides while at the same time ensure that performance electric vehicles maintain their focus on driver engagement and thrilling dynamics.

Today marks the availability of the Polestar 4 in China, with global release planned for 2024. This vehicle establishes a technological base, featuring Mobileye SuperVision™-based advanced driver assistance system. Its autonomous driving capabilities provide hands-off and eyes-off highway navigation from point A to B, as well as eyes-on automation in designated operational conditions.

SuperVision and Chauffeur are both powered by Mobileye's EyeQ™ systems-on-chip, RSS™ driving policy, and a 360-degree surround camera system. Harnessing the power of Mobileye's REM™ technology, both solutions provide access to the Mobileye Roadbook™ map. Upgrading SuperVision on a higher level, Chauffeur integrates with EyeQ6 and uses advanced radar and lidar sensors for eyes-off autonomous functionality – showing how these existing eyes-on systems can enable fully autonomous driving.
