Lotus has created a new electric grand tourer (GT), Emeya, crafted with the intention of providing drivers with superior performance and technology. When it goes into production in 2024, Emeya will be one of the fastest electric GTs available, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in under 2.8 seconds.

It is set to become a flagship model amongst the company's luxury performance electric vehicle range. To celebrate the car's upcoming launch, Lotus has designed Studio Emeya; an immersive three-day experience in New York City which will open to the public on Saturday 9 September.

Today, in New York City, Lotus launched their brand new four-door hyper-GT – Emeya. Feng Qingfeng, CEO of Lotus Group, proudly proclaimed that the company is fusing their historical pedigree with modern technology to produce a car tailored to drivers and designed for thrilling performance. Elemeya promises to redefine how a Lotus operates and behaves with its ingenious blend of decades of engineering knowledge and the most advanced features on the market.

Emeya's aerodynamics are cutting-edge, including an active front grille, rear diffuser and spoiler. This engineering is coupled with a low centre of gravity, coined 'hyperstance' by Lotus, providing enhanced stability and setting a new benchmark for ride-ability and handling among GT vehicles.

Additionally, the car has an electronically controlled air suspension system featuring sensors that detect the road surface 1000 times per second and adjust the vehicle to provide the most comfortable experience possible. The dual motor set up of its top specification model allows for speeds in excess of 155mph (250km/h) and acceleration from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in under 2.8 seconds - making it one of the quickest electric GTs around.

Emeya brings confidence to customers travelling wherever they go. Its performance is backed up by Lotus' renowned charging capabilities; a 350kW DC fast charger can increase range by 93 miles (150km) in only five minutes, while 80% charge can be achieved within 18 minutes.

To reduce its carbon footprint, the car is created with sustainability-sourced materials such as luxury thread made from recycled fashion fibres and PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather and Ultra-fabrics PU. The presence of KEF's Uni-Q® speaker design and Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound creates an unrivalled music experience for occupants.

As part of Lotus' strategy to become a global performance brand by 2028, Emeya will join Lotus' line-up of luxury lifestyle electric vehicles. Production is expected to begin in 2024. During Studio Emeya's three-day immersive brand experience showcasing Lotus' past, present, and future, the global premiere of the car took place in the heart of New York City, USA.
